Find the Love of Your Life on Tenerife Seems like a wild claim, but June on Tenerife is the perfect time for finding your soul mate. The Fiestas de San Juan are rooted in Pagan rituals, so a beach party on the 23rd at Playa Jardín in Puerto de la Cruz culminates with everyone stripping down to their swimwear and braving the Atlantic waves after midnight. There’s good reason for this, the Midsummer waters are supposed to possess magical qualities. Not only will love seekers find their perfect partner, the cleansing waters ensure good health for the coming year and are said to also increase fertility. Subsequently there are a lot of healthy bouncing babies born on Tenerife every March! Following day it’s the turn of the livestock. Puerto’s quaint harbour fills with reluctant goats, dogs and horsemen for a surreal spectacle as the La Orotava Valley’s farm animals have their annual day at the seaside. The animals are dragged, in the goats case literally, into the water kicking and screaming.
